Looking back to those hazy days of summer, we felt that Sarah and Ben’s wedding flowers reflected the season so well. Here are the highlights of their summer country style wedding.
The Venue
I first met Sarah and Ben in a small pub on the outskirts of Chesham where we started mulling over ideas for their wedding. Interpreting a couple’s ideas and converting them into a scheme to suit the venue is what we do best. Sarah and Ben’s chosen venue was quite unique and one we hadn’t worked in before, Hastoe Village Hall.
Built in 1898 for the local community by the Rothschilds, Hastoe Village Hall is quite a special place and lends itself beautifully to a summer country style.
St Bartholomew’s Church in Wigginton was dressed for the ceremony with arrangements in wall sconces and ribbons tying sprays of gypsophila to the pew ends. The “Diana’s Memory” dahlia was an excellent focal flower for the pedestal arrangement.
A combination of summery flowers in shades of pale pink, pale peach, cream and ivory worked beautifully for the wedding bouquets and wedding decorations.
Shades of pale pink and peach do work very well together, provided the depth of colour is similar. We went for slightly darker shades for the table flowers to make more of an impact in the room. The new varieties of lissianthus in apricot and the palest of pinks were an obvious choice.
Hastoe Village Hall
The hall looked stunning! The windowsills and overhead were graced by some of Sarah’s family pictures and tea light jars full of flowers. Sarah trimmed all the tea light jars herself with burlap ribbon and lace. The summer country style look was completed by strings of lights.
We also provided some of our own cream metal jugs and small old fashioned sweetie jars for the table flowers.
We loved the personalised wood slice that Sarah bought for her wedding cake. The wooden tree that she had her guests write on was also beautiful.
Sam, Sarah’s daughter, was the maid of honour and she also designed and printed the invites. She did a superb job! There was plenty of talent in this family, that’s for sure! In fact, I even suggested that Sarah might like a job in wedding planning with us!
