De Vere Latimer Estate (formerly Latimer Place), the venue for Emma and Tom’s summer wedding, is a Victorian House set in 30 acres of stunning Chiltern Hills overlooking the Chess Valley. If you’re having a spring/summer wedding and you want to enjoy drinks on the terrace, you won’t get a much better view anywhere else.
Emma and Tom’s wedding day was the only sunny day in June 2015 amongst many rainy ones. A good omen for a start!
We dressed the tiny church of St Mary Magdalene (situated just across from Latimer Estate) with a gypsophila garland above the door. Gypsophila sprays were also tied with ribbon to the pew ends.
We caught the bride just as she was arriving at the church, while her bridesmaids carried bouquets of baby’s breath. There was a touching scene where Pauline, Emma’s mum, arranged her veil as the minister spoke a few words to them. It was all smiles and deep breaths before Emma walked down the aisle to meet Tom…
The bride’s bouquet was of the softest champagne, blush and ivory coloured roses with white hydrangeas. We arranged these with apricot lissianthus and ammi majus.
Venue Decorations at Latimer Estate
The reception was held in the sunny conservatory at Latimer Estate. There, we dressed the tables with centrepieces of bird cages surrounded by baby’s breath. We also used old fashioned sweetie style jars of mixed ivory, apricot and blush coloured flowers.
Oh and the cake? A cheese stack! A great idea instead of the traditional version….
What was really lovely about this wedding is that the couple chose to have it filmed. They shared their beautiful video with us, created by Mills Films in Chesham. It’s not always easy to describe a wedding to someone when they haven’t been there, but this video tells it beautifully. This is the first video we’ve seen that portrays the romance and joy of the day so perfectly – no cheese, just romance.
It always says a lot when you can enjoy watching a wedding video even if you’re not especially close to the couple involved (as much as we like Emma and Tom, of course!).
Words of Thanks
Tom’s impression of our efforts?
“The flowers looked amazing and when I walked into the room, I was really impressed”…This man has taste!
Thank you to Emma and Tom for sharing their special day, photos and video with us – we hope you have an amazing life together!
And thank you to Julie Michaelsen Photography for some of these beautiful images above.
