February marks Valentine’s season! What better way to mark the occasion than with a wedding – spot the butterflies in this one, they linger on the wedding table centrepieces! Sunday 10th Feb 2019 marked the joyous union of Marie and Nick.
Although it had been a few years since we spoke, Marie is still one of the most positive people I have ever met. Always full of laughter and chatter, it came as no surprise to me that she would want to include something as fun as butterflies amongst her flowers. Like the insect itself, the story of our meeting popped straight out of the blue.
After being let down by another florist, Marie contacted me. Once introduced to her (quieter, but still hugely charming) other half, Nick, we got cracking on the wedding plans.
After some discussion, we agreed on a list of things that Marie definitely wanted to includein her wedding decor: table centrepieces set in martini vases, a bridal shower bouquet, bridesmaid’s bouquets, buttonholes, ceremony table flowers and top table flowers.
With the colour scheme decided of purple, lilac and white – all that was left to do was some number crunching and research to meet Marie’s budget requirements.
Due to my extensive background in the florist industry and having had many years of experience with weddings specifically, I pride myself on being able to find the right flowers at the right cost. I am always willing and able to put things together in such a way that creates the best result for my clients at the best possible price.
Setting the scene at the Denham Grove Hotel was not difficult. The banqueting suite lends itself well to an elaborate celebration with lighting, drapes and a spacious dance floor. Not only that, but Sophie and her team are well versed in everything to do with weddings and the hotel made sure that everything ran smoothly. We were able to liaise effortlessly with them to ensure that all venue dressing was covered.
To bring in the butterfly-theme, silk imitations were dotted through the table centrepieces and top table decorations.
We included one of Marie’s favourite flowers in the bouquets and top table flowers – Vermeer, a purple and white calla lily. These were mixed with Dancing Clouds roses, Alpe D’uez white roses and Picture Perfect germini’s. We also included purple lissianthus, white lilies, ammi majus and white antirrhinum. The effect was quite regal looking, don’t you think?
You don’t have to use the same flowers in both the bride and bridesmaid’s bouquets. Often a contrast against the bridesmaid’s dresses works well, and looks great in the photos.
The photos were taken by Josie, a friend of Marie’s, aunty and owner of Fake It Hair and Nails in Chalfont St Peter. We didn’t need three guesses to fathom who did the hair for the day either – super job Josie!
As you can probably tell from the pictures, the party went on and on into the evening. Take a look at the faces full of joy! Marie’s family even travelled all the way from Italy to be a part of this fabulous occasion.
Marie’s gorgeously classic dress was from Wed2B, in Chesham.
All I can say is, well done Marie! You have a fantastic married life ahead of you I’m sure, and I know you will make it count. Sending lots of love and blessings to you and Nick,
from Debby and the Garden Room team
