We have been so busy with weddings this year and now we really need to catch up with our wedding blogs. Thankfully though, we are just in time for Melanie and Damian’s anniversary, so here’s a look back at their day at Bisham Abbey…
We met Melanie’s mum at the Bisham Abbey wedding fair and Melanie got in touch straight away. She said she would be organising her entire wedding from Australia (!) so we had to make sure lines of communication stayed as open as possible.
The Venue – Bisham Abbey
We are a preferred wedding florist for Bisham Abbey and therefore we know the venue very well. As it was a Christmas wedding, pine garlands and fairy lights were ideal for the mantelpieces which we draped with ivy. We added storm vases and candles for further ambience.
The Colours – Blue
Blue continues to be a very popular colour for wedding flowers and Melanie chose her flowers to compliment the blue of the bridesmaid’s dress. Delphiniums, although actually a summer flower, are available in certain varieties year round. We were able to include the bright blue volkerfrieden delphinium, blue eryngium thistle and viburnum steel berry for the wedding bouquets. We also mixed in eucalyptus for a bit of Australia!
The Decorations – Candelabras
The table candelabras were provided by Bisham Abbey as part of their wedding package and we are used to dressing them. In this case, we chose ivory roses and greenery. The Christmas tree was up too so Melanie had plenty of fairy lights and candles to add warmth to the Great Hall where the wedding breakfast was held.
On the morning of the wedding day, whilst we were busy putting the wedding decorations in place, the groom was doing the final checks. We have yet to meet a cooler groom than Damian! Melanie was a radiant bride as you can see – it must be all the fresh Australian air she gets! There was even more of that in store for the couple as their honeymoon was spent in New Zealand, hiking and wine tasting.
Words of Thanks – Melanie
“We had an absolutely fantastic day, made all the more amazing by your stunning flower arrangements. They were so beautiful. We had so many compliments on the table arrangements and the bouquets. Thank you also for all your help leading up to the big day. You really understood what I was looking for, and helped me so much with ideas for the venue itself. The ballroom looked stunning!”
We hope you’ve both had a wonderful first year together Melanie and Damian. A very happy anniversary for the 27th of December, with love from us all at The Garden Room.
