Donna and I first met at The Tudor Barn, Burnham, in the autumn of 2018. I was setting up another wedding there and Donna liked what she saw, so she took my details.
When we met for the wedding consultation, Donna was so excited and well on her way towards her wedding planning. Obviously she had chosen The Tudor Barn as her venue, but she had also already trimmed jars with lace and ribbon for the table flowers, and bought bird cages for the top table! I quickly came to realise that Donna was a lady who liked to wrap things up very much ahead of time.
If you’re scouting for wedding venues, visit on a Saturday morning and you are very likely to see wedding decorations already set up for the wedding of the day. This can help you visualise how you would like your own wedding reception to be staged.
Donna left absolutely nothing to chance. Every detail of this wedding was covered between Donna and I very early on in the process down to the eight six-gyspophila bunches needed for the chair sashes!
For the wedding bouquets and decorations, we decided on a beautiful peach and ivory colour scheme. I used Avalanche Pearl roses which are peachy pink, peach hypericum, double white lissianthus and gypsophila. Primavera peach roses were used in the table jars.
The Tudor Barn has a beautiful outdoor setting for a wedding ceremony. We decorated bay trees with gypsophila bunches and peach ribbons and we adorned the arch with our large wicker hearts, finished with sprays of flowers.
Include a table of memories like Donna did. Pictured above. This is a lovely idea to remember those who have missed your wedding day.
Below is Donna’s finished wedding bouquet. Other gorgeous colour schemes we’ve put together for wedding bouquets are shown here.
But let’s switch focus to the bride and groom. Here is their charming story….
Let’s begin at the beginning – how did you two meet?
We met in Malaga in 2016. I was on a girls’ holiday and he was on a stag-do.
Ah, the ultimate meet-cute! So what was your proposal story?
We were on holiday in Benidorm and he took me to a beautiful place called La Pointe. It is a lovely cliff top with white steps and bollards that lead down to the sea.
We sat down, looking out at the view, then he set “Perfect Strangers” to play on his phone (this song was playing when we met). I turned around, and there he was, on one knee with a stunning emerald cut diamond ring!
Where did you find your gorgeous dress?
I brought my dress from Daisy Love. They have over 80 styles to chose from, but they can also make bespoke dresses.
How did you settle on the outfit you chose?
As I said, Daisy Love are able to make bespoke designs, so I asked them to alter my chosen dress. I had always pictured my wedding dress with lace sleeves and a Bardot top and they were able to add these for me.
My chosen accessories were simple but elegant. I love chokers so I chose a diamond one to reflect my style, and coupled it with a round stone diamond bracelet.
Who made your cake?
Sugar Honey Cakes. They are a small local business in Surrey who make bespoke cakes, biscuits and cupcakes.
What was the music for your first dance?
As you might have guessed, “Perfect Strangers” by Jonas Blue, but we went for a softer acoustic version sung by our wedding band.
Great idea! We love how The Tudor Barn created the perfect frame for this picture!
So after your wonderful wedding, where did you go for your equally lovely honeymoon?
We have two small kiddies so we didn’t want to be too far away for too long. We chose Cala Millor, Majorca.
Lastly, a Word of Thanks from Donna…
I would highly recommend Debby and her team! She provided me with exactly what I wanted and was professional and friendly from start to finish! Her prices were very reasonable, and I absolutely loved all of my wedding flowers. Debby was a joy to work with. 5 stars!!
Thanks also to Moritz Schmittat Photography for some of the images used in this article.
And lastly, thank you Donna for choosing me as your wedding florist – I don’t think I’ve met a bride who has been quite so excited about her wedding.
You and Joe make a wonderful couple – all my very best for your future together, Debby xx, The Garden Room
