Now we are in the depths of winter, it cheers me to look back on such a beautiful turquoise-coloured day in August last year, when Anna married Miguel at Hedsor House.
The Bride
I first met Anna with her mum Sally at her grandmothers shop in Gerrards Cross. Almost straight away, Anna spotted amongst our photos a contemporary and very unusual bouquet we had produced for a photo shoot in 2012. This was the one she chose for her wedding.
Turning Things Turquoise
The bridesmaids’ dresses were turquoise so Anna wanted to include accents of this colour in their bouquets. To do this, we threaded turquoise beads onto silver wire and wound these through the flowers themselves. Simple, and subtle.
For the guest table flowers, we suggested tall and short arrangements of pale pink and ivory roses, lissianthus, lysimachia, gypsophila and eucalyptus. We then used turquoise ribbon on the vases and napkins to bring the colour theme back in.
Hedsor house, the venue for the ceremony and reception, is a private country house wedding venue in Buckinghamshire. It is set in its own magnificent 100-acre historic park. In centuries past, Hedsor House hosted many special and unforgettable occasions, including welcoming King George III and Queen Victoria!
So, it was the perfect venue for Anna and Miguel’s wedding, which turned out to be a perfect day (if a little hot)!
Anna and the bridesmaids looked wonderful and Mike was the proudest dad escorting Anna down a petal strewn aisle. The words “Daddy, of all the walks we have taken together, this is my favourite” greeted the pair as they started down the aisle.
The guests enjoyed not only a sumptuous wedding breakfast but a bouncy castle, a football table, and croquet in the garden. Finished with dancing in the evening.
The surprise of the day? A beautiful vintage car collected Anna and Miguel to whisk them off for the night. Celebrations continued into the next day with a marquee reception at their home.
